I never was one to sew very well. I just never had nimble fingers or
a straight eye when it came to that particular endeavor. <g>
In our family we do something a little different. For patches that
are always on or the ones that even if they do change, the replacement
patches are still the same size and go in the same place--we use
"Heatbond" iron on adhesive. For patches that are temporary or change
in size and shape, we sew.
I buy it our local Wal-Mart in the sewing department. It comes in a
large roll, like shelving paper. Cut to size--apply 3 layers to the
patch, flip the patch over and iron it on to the uniform. It sticks
well, never comes off in the wash, and always looks good. And when it
is time to replace or change the patch, apply hot iron, peel off old
and stick on new. Takes all of a couple of minutes.
