Ah Auntie sewing on patches!
My son (now 23) learned early on in his scouting career that if he wanted a
patch sewed on then don't wait for Mom. He became very proficient with the
sewing machine. When it came to rank advancement he said the heck with the
pocket and sewed right through the pocket. He said the use of the pocket was
not worth the work to sew by hand and instead sowed it shut every time he
Myself, I too learned that if I wanted it sewed on my uniforms (now numbering
six shirts I believe) I had better do it myself. One thing I use to get them
looking somewhat straight is an embroidery hoop. It keeps the fabric nice and
tight and able to get the patch straight.
