HOW ABSOLUTELY AMAZING how this group seems to be as relevant as a
lightning strike at times!!!!!....read on!:
I was called by a parent of one of our new scouts. He said that at our
recent OA Callout ceremony, he noticed that our troop owned a tipi. He
asked if we were interested in another and that his father had just moved
here from Colorado where he was a member of a Mountain Man recreationist
group. He was selling "some stuff" and the new-scout parent wondered if
our troop would be interested in another tipi. Welllll....I said, sure.
Well folks, here's the list of equipment that we just acquired for $1700:
1ea 20ft tipi with poles
1ea liner for tipi 6.5ft high
1ea 1-pole tent with awning (15X18ft)
1ea stove for 1-pole tent
1ea wooden kitchen cupboard box
1ea 3-piece camp kitchen
6ea wooden storage boxes full of cast iron pieces
1ea lg wooden table
5ea wooden camp chairs
lanterns and hangers
1ea rifle stand
wooden water barrels
ALL PACKED in a 5X8ft covered trailer, watertight, lockable. new tires
We've been wanting to start a Mountain Man themed crew within our troop. I
think we just purchased the "program in a box"!!!!
Note that this last January, I attended Trapper's Rondevous, an event
sponsored by Quivera Council where I met up with two Scouts-L buddies of
mine, Jim Sleezer and Barry Runnels. Barry, Jim, eat your hearts
