We told our son we'd be there to answer questions if he needed
us--surprisingly, they were mostly grammar questions or ideas for
resources. He asked that we provide a 2-deep presence while they
worked, which we did. He asked that we adults, and not the boys, paint
the floor with the oil-based paint and ventilators for safety reasons.
And he asked that we bring lots of soda and water and pizza! We felt
that he was the leader of the project, and we were guides and helpers if
he needed us. But it's really hard to keep out of things when you've
spent so many years giving "a helping hand". I've made it a habit to
wear shorts/pants with pockets when I'm around any of the boys, so that
I can stick my hands in the pockets and not into their business (grin).
