This far north, no, we didn't up here.
But I will add that there was nothing in the articles that surprised me
about the alleged practices of the council. In fact, I have had other
professionals inform me that there is some unofficial pressure put on them
by those above them to pad numbers a bit, in order to achieve their goals.
Now, before those who lurk on this list get crazy over what I just said, I
will qualify it. I have never heard of ANY professionals who are just
that--professional--condoning pading the numbers. However, I have had
several people tell me that they were...um...encouraged to try this, so that
their superior could make his or her goals.
I will say this--these articles will make me think harder next time we renew
our charter and boys or adults are there that were supposed to have been
deleted a couple of years ago. I, for one, don't believe it is widespread,
but I wouldn't be surprised if BSA did an internal review and find that it
happens outside of the council in question...all very unofficially, of
