Mary Chadwick queried the list regarding Certified Youth Protection
"They are certified by a Council representative to give Youth
Protection Training. I have been told that this is policy. Has
anyone else heard this and is this how it is done in your area?"
if it is our Council's policy, is it up to the
individual Council as to how the Youth Protection Program is ran?
How is this handled in your area? If this is a National Policy, can
you send me to it?
Mary, I can't speak from a National Policy perspective, but I'm sure
someone will. I do know that of the three councils with which I have
recently been associated, all of them had a program to certify Youth
Protection Trainers, and used those trainers to present Youth
They all did it for the reasons you bring forth, quality control,
consistency of presentation, explanation of policy and reporting
procedures, tracking of YP trained leaders, etc.
So from where I look at this, three for three indicates something
that's possibly more than just a coincidence.
