Alamo Area Council has some close ties to our brethren in Los
Alamos, NM. If anyone is looking for a way to help those Scouts, here
are two people to contact.
Brother (and Sister) Scouts,
For several years, the Scouts of Los Alamos, New Mexico have helped
San Antonio Troops from Cherokee and Eagle Districts plan and execute
backbacking trips to Bandelier National Monument and the Sante Fe
Forest / Jemez Mountains.
As you no doubt have heard, the town of Los Alamos and the surrounding
have been devastated by fire. Several hundred homes and other
have been destroyed or damaged to date. The entire population has been
evacuated. All of this has caused untold hardship on the Los Alamos
Venture Crew 234 is developing a plan to aid our brother and sister
Los Alamos. We will be coordinating our efforts through the American
Cross here in San Antonio. Planning is in the early stages, and details
be forthcoming as we are informed by the Red Cross as to what would be
most effective and timely form of aid.

Scouters one and all,
I had the privilige to serve as the District Director for the Los
District, Great Southwest Council for about 14 months. I know that
the scouts and scouters there have already lost home and hearth in this
disaster. Chartered organizations and unit equipment are sure to be
long gone by
the time you read this. If I can offer any assistance to coordinate
just let me know
Thank you for taking up this worthwhile effort on behalf of
Scouting. It will truly be appreciated.
