Just a couple of points of information:
You didn't mention that Peter J. Gomes is gay and a homosexual
activist (these facts might bias his interpretation of some passages
in the Bible). Many churches
do not agree with his interpretation of the Bible. Also, many churches
not only follow scripture, but tradition and an interpretation
of 'natural law' (e.g., the Roman Catholic Chruch).
