Hello to the list,
Could someone tell me what the lifejacket/PFD rule is for Scouts going on a
large commercial deep sea fishing boat (one of the big 30 ft. 'head' boats
that carry large groups of people out for a day of bottom fishing)? Do they
have to wear a PFD while on the water, or are the rails, lifeboats, and
PFDs in stowage enough?
I have the current G2SS (rev. 2000) and it says that all Scouts must have a
PFD for small craft (canoes, sailboats, kayaks, etc.) but I cannot find
anything about commercial or cruising vessels........... For example, if I
were to go from Port Angeles WA to Anacortes, I would take the boys on a
ferry. Are PFDs required to be worn or just be at hand in the case of
rough seas?? Anyone know the regulations for large vessels?
Also, does anyone know of any deep sea outfits in South Carolina that cater
to Boy Scouts?
Thanks in advance
