Last year we attended CDB in North Carolina, for the most part the food
compared to basic school/camp style food. The largest problems we had was
in the portions. Our 6'2" 260lb. scouts received the same amount of food as
our 5'2" 100lb. scouts. The night that we had Chicken Nuggets was the one
that broke the camels back!! You were given a scoop of Green Beans, a scoop
of rice, a roll and 2 chicken digits (Nuggets)!! Not chicken strips but
Little Nuggets. They also provided salad that had been put through a
shredder so it looked more like Cole slaw!
that night we did speak with the Camp Director, and he was made aware of the
problems and they did correct them on the next meals to some degree.
We made the suggestion about having Peanut Butter and Jelly fixings out on a
table so scouts and leaders could make a sandwich if the meal was not enough
or they did not like it. You would have thought that the wheel was being
re-invented! That said that they would need to put it before the committee
for next year!
Still this was a great camp and we have it on our list for next year.
