scouts-l Mail Archive for May of 2000: Re: Performance Reviews?

Man, this is starting to sound like corporate Scouting again where we bring
everything that we do (and hate) from work and somehow expect the Scouts to
like it. Guys, boys don't do meetings, boys don't think long range. That is
why they have adults along for the ride. Boys have fun and if scouting isn't
fun, they aren't going to stick around. Instead of a "performance review",
what happened to the good old sit down face to face discussion starting with
"how are you doing" or "how are things in your patrol, home, school, sport
(you pick)". Let's keep the weekly staff meetings, performance reviews,
secretaries days, annual reports in the board room. By the way, can the
scouts have a reverse performance review for the adults?
