I STRONGLY disagree, Jon. As a former Scoutmaster, I had one kid that
rather get a beating from his father (one time in front of me and the
every week than to miss out of what was going on in Scouts. I had a couple
of my Scouts to "hide him" from his father a couple of times when he would
and now, my comment:
Mike, please, let's be realistic...statistically, for every one of the boys
you have described, there are 'hundreds' who come from the same background
that do NOT join scouting, because, as Jon states, they do not have the
support of their parents...there is no question of the strong correlation
that exists between parental support and a boy's successful participation
in the Scouting program...yes, of course the strong program you speak of
must be in place -- just like the strong parental support that must be
there also !
I'm a few days behind in reading the daily digests -- wonder how many
others have already voiced these same thoughts ! Sorry, Mike, it's YOU I
have to disagree with this time !!!
