Recently two local councils were merged with a new name resulting. In fact a
smaller, very weak council was absorbed by the larger council and became one
district of the larger ouncl instead of two smaller district of theweaker
council. As a result a new shoulder patch was issued.
The new district exec. assigned to the smaller former council has been
making the rounds of the units doing intros and insisting that they update
their uniforms. He even carriesa bag of new patcheswhich he sells at the
trading post price. In fact he has been overbearing. There are two units
that have proudly been using the old red-white community-state strips on
their own hook since 1972. Apparently the DE read the riot act to the SMs in
the troop meetings over their use of "unauthorized insignia" even though it
is entirely proper to use such insignia.
What is your reaction and what should the SMs that were verbally attacked
do? What should the other unit leaders do about the older shoulder patches?
