As Mike noted in his posting of Friday, he and his wife were at the LaCroix
District Recognition Dinner. Mike added so much to the dinner that I think
it did help everyone feel better about the coming re-organization of the
district into three parts on July 1st. LaCroix has been LaCroix for over 20
years, so re-organization is hard.
If you ever get a chance to meet Mike and Jessica...you are in for a real
special time. Both are really special people.
Can you guess what Mike talked about? Scouting for sure, but Scouts-L!!!
It was on sharing and communications and the power of information in
Scouting. Plus the subjects behind this like...What to get a New
Scoutmaster, Spirit of the Eagle, Setting the Example, and many more things.
The folks in the district now have a much better understanding on where Todd
gets these ideas (many come from here, other from other Scouting trips and
contacts). Mike's presentation was about 30 minutes (10 minutes over, but
it was too good to stop him!!!). All 4000 plus of us were noted in that
there are over 4000 of us world-wide on this list and all the help we are to
each other...thanks everyone!!! There will also be a number of new members
coming to Scouts-L from Indianhead. Lots of folks were talking to Mike and
Jessica about how to get on Scouts-L.
Mike demonstrated how fast information on this list moves and how we have
impact on this program. Mike also made us laugh. Laugh as a group like I
had not heard since the council-wide district re-org was announced.
Mike also read the District Award of Merit Bio's and this made these folks
feel very special. One was not present as he was doing Scouting with his
troop in IL. The other two were stunned. It was a great time.
So to any Scout-L member, if you get the chance to hear Mike speak on
anything, you are in for a really good time. Mike can make a sore spot feel
good...can we all say cargo pockets. Visiting Mike's web sites or reading
his posting only gives you a small look into who Mike is. Even the small
time we had together wasn't enough. I am sure a number of LaCroix folks are
asking themselves, "So why isn't Mike going to be the new Chief Scout
Executive?" We on the list know why, Mike's help with everyone on this list
is already helping Scouting and other youth organizations with us here
instead of at one of those top BSA exec spots. With Mike, myself, and
everyone on Scouts-L, together we have a better chance to helping the youth
in our units better than we would alone and by ourselves.
Thanks Mike, once again, for making a hard District Dinner really great. It
was better for you to have made this one instead of last year's...you helped
a lot...Thank You!
