So True. My wife and I have moved 14 times in the 27 years we have been
married. EVERY job she has had was directly attributable to Scouting.
Her most current job is working for a major Software company developing
computer based training and training materials. Two parts of the interview
process was to conduct a 5-10 minute class on a subject, and be evaluated on
the training techniques -- she used baseline BSA Training techniques and
taught the Bowline to a group of adults who didn't know one end of a rope
from another. They had fun, she "maxed" the technique portion of the
interview, and got the job.
We told the Scouts about this (she was an ASM in the Troop, is now on Troop
Committee), and they Thought it was "neat". I'll bet many troops have adults
(and youth) in them that have had this same experience. Share these stories
with the youth - it does make an impact.
