The Troop Committee Training is an excellent way to get every Boy Scout
a more successful troop.
Depending on your job: my best suggestion is to get all of your
committee together, all the training staff, and/or your commissioner
staff to do the course... like wildfire, every troop/district/training
team will have experienced people talking about one of the greatest
tools that has come forward for the troop committee.
How many people out there won't go to Boy Scout Basic training because
it takes so much time? Or that the title is so looming as
Scoutmastership Fundamentals??? This training is a perfect solution to
that challenge. It's trimmed down to the functional essentials and the
big picture of why we do what we do!
Our council has offered it as an option at our Train the Trainer
conference, which worked really well to get trainers trained. We also
have given each district one copy to train their district personnel with
and to loan out to units that may not be able to spend the $20 to get
their own. The word is getting out there. Another suggestion, if you
have the influence, is to get the Scout Executive to support the
District Executives to participate in the training also.... then they
can help those units get even better!
If you'd like to know more about the training, i strongly suggest
getting a copy and just doing it! It's grrrrreat!
Hope this helps.
