Just an educated guess here, but the BSA or, more properly, its lawyers
(exclude my language), probably doesn't want us mere leaders to represent
its position regarding this or any other litigation.
The couple of times that people have asked me about it, I've replied along
the lines of "um, mumble, mumble, it's Policy whether I agree with it or
not, mumble, mumble, mumble, work to change the system from within, mumble,
mumble." This works for me, as I (think that I) understand both sides of
the issue, and can argue for either side (with myself or anyone else).
However, I'm especially good at ducking arguments, which is particularly
useful when you are up to your eyeballs in the throes of a Pack or Troop
meeting. Nothing that we all do at the unit level can possibly have any
sway on the thinking in Irving, TX, so what's the point of
