In my pack the Webelos Den Leaders accompany the Webelos to summer camp. It
is a "Webelos" function. The Council provides a structured program, that is
easy for the Webelos Den Leaders to implement.
As a Boy Scout leader, you should only worry about Webelos camping when the
Webelos 2s need to do their troop overnight, or daytime outdoor event. As
with all Webelos camping, the parents must attend.
Other Webelos camping events should be implemented by the Webelos Den Leaders
/ Pack leadership. Sorry Charlie....you don't get the Webelos until they
cross over into Boy Scouts. That's the time that you should teach them the
"Boy Scout way". If your Webelos Den Leaders have attended the offered
Webelos leader training, they have a good understanding of how the BSA wants
the Webelos to Boy Scout transition to happen. You should work hand in hand
with them, but don't assume that they don't know anything about the
Just one Webelos Den Leader's opinion. I'll get off my soap box now. Thanks!
