Last week, I asked the list their opinion on a Sun Country Airlines
radio ad which ran (and is still running) in the Minneapolis Area. The ad
uses scouting to promote Sun Country's low fares and good service.
I had asked whether this was a violation of any BSA copyright, or
just an example of Sun Country using the BSA's image without permission.
However, it turns out that Sun Country DID have permission from national to
run the ad.
I communicated by email and phone, with Tammy Lee, Sun Country's Director of
Public Affairs, and Sun Country's account manager at BVK McDonald, the firm
which produced the ad. In the interest of conserving space, the email and a
summary of the conversations are located at:
I am left with several questions and concerns, which I believe can best be
answered by the BSA National Council. I intend to leave it up to those on
the list with better connections at that level to voice their more
experienced opinions to the appropriate people.
