Way back in the Days when my father was our District Comish
as well as the chairman of MOST camporees, he would have
the evening MEAL included as part of the contest for the
"best patroll" awards. District staff - as "inspectors"
would visit the troop sites an observe meal preparations
etc. I can also remember one camporee where the patrolls
that were judged in the top 5 - we invited to a ICE cream
dessert - hosted by the camporee staff - at the same time
as the scout master cracker barrel and meeting!
The year my patroll won - we did a roasted chicken with
baked potatoes, gravy and stuffing and roasted corn on the cob!
For deserts - we had planned a peach cobler - but had hot fudge
sundays with the staff instead! We made the cobbler for our
late nite snack and sharred with the troop.
Note that the above meal would only requie only the dutch oven.
Very litle kitchen clean up!!
