I spoke with my sons (both now Eagles and ASMs) about their experience
cooking on campouts. I already knew that one had opted for some pretty
elaborate stuff and the other had opted for really simple stuff--most of
the time. They tried to base their food choices on what else was
happening. When the activity was great, they cooked very simply; when
there was a lot of time for cooking, they did something more elaborate.
One started in a troop that featured a gourmet campout about twice a year.
The other started in a troop where the emphasis was definately not on
cooking. Guess which one makes the more elaborate choices. Of course,
both cook at home so don't need to do anything special on a campout.
