scouts-l Mail Archive for March of 2000: Neckerchief slides and woggles and all, oh my!
Fri Mar 31 2000 - 16:32:33 CST
I have gone from an Asst. Scoutmaster with a troop position, to a District
Committee position and am changing shirts because I want to keep my Troop
shirt intact and don't want to remove all the number, badges etc. With the
Troop shirt, I used to wear a red and black neckerchief with different
neckerchief slides. Now I would like to use my Wood Badge neckerchief with
my new shirt. Do I have to use the Wood Badge toggle neckerchief slide with
the Wood badge neckerchief or can I use any of the slides that I have with
You can wear your WB neckerchief in your new position (and indeed, are
allowed to wear it with your troop shirt at your troop activities, although
lots of us prefer to wear our troop neckerchiefs there). It is proper only
to wear the Wood Badge leather woggle with the tartan neckerchief. You can
still, however, wear a non-WB, non-troop BSA neckerchief in your new
position, and wear any slide you like with it.
Been there, do that, got the slides to show for it. I must have 50 slides,
and I wear them according to the occasion with my troop or other generic
neckerchief. I wear the WB necker and woggle for formal occasions away from
my troop, like a council event that the troop isn't participating in. But
sometimes I want to wear that rubber duckie or the little lantern that lights
up or the beautiful slice of Georgia dogwood or the little bottle of Tabasco
or the Dunkin' Donuts box or the turtle or the dragonflies or the Okpik
souvenir, or, or, oh, decisions, decisions.
