Our troop owns:
a box for each patrol
cook gear and stove each patrol
ropes and twine
axes, hatchets, and saws
Each patrol soon will have a different color tent. Boxes and gear are
We are thinking of purchasing a few backpacks from someplace that has good
packs for not a lot of money (and gives discounts to scouts) like Campmor.
Boys will be able to "rent" them, or buy them used from the troop. Most of
our boys have never been backpacking and think that "its too hard."
Members of our chartered partner have donated some things, like heavy coats,
sleeping bags, etc, that we keep on hand for boys who are either new enough
that they forgot to pack some things or, in our area, just don't have those
things at all. We provide them for campouts.
We also have a trailer, but due to rules in our state and chartered partner,
the troop doesn't own it--it is owned by "the parents of troop 147", as
