I can see the many positive points in Dave's comments. I am not sure that smaller units, or relatively new Troops would have the financial ability to handle this. It would be nice if more COs would jump in financially - I rarely see that (some denominations do a grand job of
funding Scouting Units - wish more did).
A question to Dave and others; I have copied below a quote I find interesting (from Dave's post):
"All scouts are required to participate in fundraising."
I understand that many Units have rules above and beyond (but not in conflict with BSA guidelines) the typical ones. Is it possible to actually "require" Scouts (and therefore Scout families) to participate in fundraising? The reason I am asking is because I know of Districts
around the country that require a minimum participation (dollarwise) in Scout Popcorn Sale. I was not aware that you could "require" any fundraising (beyond annual dues). What saith the list?
