Calvin's comments about eGroups are excellent. However, it is not
necessary to set up such a group through a commercial entity. We have just
(in the past couple of months) completed collecting e-mail addresses for
all the families in our troop with e-mail (all but 4 out of 40+ families),
and I have set up a personal group within my own e-mail system so that at
the touch of a button I can send notes, etc. to all families.
I expect most e-mail systems have such a capability (the newer ones
anyway), and strongly encourage troops that aren't using such a system to
start doing so. Saves a ton of time, money, effort, etc. Also avoids the
problem of "pop-up" ads Calvin alluded to.
