Some thoughts in CLBT scheduling.
In our district, we usually schedule several weekend sessions in the fall
(both Sat & Sun). They are full (5hr.) sessions located at various places
throughout the District.
We have also offered a "mix and match" schedule. We run a series of
weekday (or weekend) evening sessions that run about 2.5 hours
each. Generally we offer three each of "Part A" and "Part B." We divide
the material into two sessions (a mix of "boring" and "fun" stuff). Each
session is self-contained and can be completed in any order. In order to
complete the course and get the patch you have to complete one session of
each type. This menu gives folks some flexibility in scheduling.
The other program we offer is "host a course." If a pack (or several
packs) have at least 10 leaders who need training, we'll take the course to
them. They provide the meeting place, TV/VCR, and refreshments...we do the
rest. These are generally run as "one shot" courses, but can also be done
in two parts.
We try to have the fall schedule planned and publicized prior to school
night recruiting. That way packs can hand out training brochures to the
new leaders right away.
Best of luck,
