There is no dumb question that is asked with the right intent. In fact, I
thought this was a very good question and I' going to try to answer it.
1) How long do the members get to wear the award?
I would suggest as long as they are members of the patrol that earned it
and participated in earning it. I would hope the patrol would set the
example and once earning the award, keep the patrol up to those high
2) A new person joins the patrol, does he get it also?
If the patrol continues to meet the standards and the new person
actively participates with the patrol for 3 months, he too can wear the
award, after the three months.
3)The BS handbook says..........
The SM handbook says "Wear the full uniform correctly at troop activities
(at least 75 percent of the patrol's membership)." Skip back up to the top
and it says, "... over a three month period."
Read in to this, at troop activities = meetings, outings, COH, wherever it
is proper to wear the uniform. A patrol of eight would require at least six
scouts wearing the complete uniform at troop activities.
How often can this award be earned??
Referring to the Insignia Guide, which states, "beneath patrol emblem of
patrol that has met the standard." I would read this as you may earn this
award one time for the patrol you are a member in.
What do others think?
