A big thanks and "hats off" to all who responded to me and the list
regarding the scenario involving Scout A being slugged by Scout B during a
basketball game at one of our Troop meetings.
The situation has been resolved (deferred to the PLC), the Scout was kept
out from one campout, and both were talked to about keeping
anger/language/actions in check. All seem happy and content with outcome,
although, I believe the CC felt like they and some other adults should
handle all matters of this sort.
IMHO, I was in favor of the PLC handling this, but would want the CC to
handle more serious matters. I just wanted to gauge the list's opinion on
this to see if I was on the right track or totally off course.
FWIW, the final tally was 22 in favor of the PLC and 2 in favor of the CC
handling the situation. Good call guys!
Finally, my mention of what to do if girlie magazines/cigarretes/alcohol
was found on a campout was just a preemptive strike and I wanted to "Be
Prepared" in the event it ever came up at one of our campouts. Our Troop,
thankfully, isn't that "interesting", yet! It hasn't occurred, yet, but has
occurred with other Troops in the area. Our Scouts aren't angels, pretty
close, but the above will probably eventually happen. I just want their SM
(me) and the PLC to handle it in the best manner.
Thanks again y'all! You've come thru again and I continue to learn from and
be amazed at the wisdom of Scouts-L. Keep up the great, work!
