It is a very good idea to have someone along who can care for minor
injuries and know when it is a major injury that needs emergency care.
In fact Texas schools are now required to have all coaches certified in
F.A.C.T.S. and by May any organization sponsor that is taking students
off campus will also need this certification. F.A.C.T.S. not only
includes basic First Aid and CPR but the use of the new electrical heart
stimulators which is to be carried on all trips.
Maybe the BSA is finally catching up on the "Be Prepared" side of this
