scouts-l Mail Archive for March of 2000: SPL elections.

When I became scoutmaster in our troop I inherited a tradition where the
was basically appointed by the SM. I have upheld this tradition so far,
but I am
becoming interested in converting to the more traditional election of the
by the troop. My committee has lots of ideas (suggestions) as to how to
this which involve several permutations and combinations of setting
(like star scout, so many nights of camping, served as a leader
etc.) and process (e.g. having the scouts nominate four or five and the
SM pick the final two, and others). I am interested in how youse out
there handle these elections, especially if it isn't the simple
straightforward "he who gets the most votes wins".
Thanx in advance for your help.
