scouts-l Mail Archive for March of 2000: New Scout" PWD class (& more Webelos/New Scout Thoughts)

<VBG> OK, this is my final word, I promise.
Our Pack includes siblings, mothers, fathers, grandparents,
etc., as legitimate participants in our PWD. It's PWD, not
earning another activity pin, or the AoL, etc. (We throw them
in the sibling pool, or perhaps their own pool if their is enough.)
"Legitimate participants" meaning that if they win, they go on to the
district & council finals? I don't know about you, but there are no sibling,
parent, or Cub-wannabe divisions there.
I was under the very strong impression (forgive me if I was wrong) that the
original poster wanted the new Scouts to compete as and with Cubs, so if they
placed they would go on in the competition. This is clearly wrong. Wanna have
open categories, just-for-fun races for siblings or anyone else, be my guest
(although don't assume everyone does this-- our pack never had anyone else
race but the Cubs, and that took up quite enough time, thanks! And yes,
everyone had a great time.). But do not let new Scouts think they can still
participate as if they were still Cubs.
