<I would ask you to NOT clutter the list once again with
<your comments. It appears to me that the issues were thoroughly
beaten <to death during the last jamboree.
Evidently you have sent this message twice and I have read it both
times. This list is for all but the "3" G's as far as I understand.
I was not a part of this list during the last jamboree and therefore
must have missed the conversations.
<The discussion doesn't further Scouting and
<serves no purpose other than to inflame sentiments already deeply
help <and totally unlikely to change because of a post on this list.
I believe this posting topic does further Scouting as to should we or
shouldn't we teach respect for the Office of the President of the
United States of America. I believe, like you, that "Politics" such
as candidates, positions, Democrat, Republican, Independent or
otherwise should be left out of the topic. As with many questions
brought up on this list, most of them inflame someone on one side or
the other. Most of these postings on this list bring out strongly
held beliefs about how one should or shouldn't do something.
<This list is valuable because of the assistance, inspiration, and
<that it offers its members, not because of political or questions of
<character that are outside of the its purpose.
<I'm sure there are archival posts where all of the present sentiment
can <be reviewed. Thanks you for listening to my speech from the soap
<Ted Argo III
I agree that this list is valuable for all of the above listed
qualities. But my question to you would remain as to why it is wrong
or invalid to consider the pertinence of teaching or discussing
respect or disrespect for the Office of the President. When it
affects what we are trying to instill in our Scouts; whether it be
camping, fire starting, or CITIZENSHIP. In every post to this
list--someone's opinion is being stated--except when it is enclosed in
quotations from a publication that is published by the BSA.
I feel that I have followed the guidelines posted by the list owner, I
for one don't appreciate you sending out post telling me that my
thoughts on any given subject are clutter. That would be like me
asking you not to clutter the list with your messages that I might
consider as clutter. I for one will leave the moderation to the list
