Pete I think you are mixing apples with oranges here. You cite of the old
requirments (check out the new Y2K book), but, even that requirment asks
only that 1 overnight trip need invole patrol activities. The overall
requirment for the badge is: "20 days and 20 nights camping (you may use a
week of long-term toward this requirment)Sleep each night under the sky or
in a tent you have pitched"
It's clear that the badge requires a good mix of camping experience, not,
all of it requiring patrol experience. (try telling my boys who hiked the
Grand Canyon that because the patrol method wasn't used their nights didn't
count toward the 20!)
