Hello the list!
Just wanted to let everyone know about my upcoming "promotion".
Effective April 1 (yes, April Fool's Day, isn't that appropriate?) I
will officially become Scoutmaster for Troop 379 in Blenker,
Wisconsin. Our current SM has been somewhat lax in his committment to
the Troop, missing most Troop and SPL meetings, leaving myself and the
CC to pick up the slack. This has caused quite a bit of confusion
amongst the boys. This year we will be rechartering with 1/3 fewer
boys than last year (6 out of 18 have dropped out of the program).
When the SM announced to the committee that he would be stepping down
from his position upon rechartering in 2001, I approached him and made
him believe that he would be doing me a favor (improving my chances to
be selected as a leader for the Council Jamboree Troop) if he would
step down now instead of waiting a year.
One of the things that I am most concerned about is advancement.
All 6 of the boys who dropped out were below First Class in rank and
not advancing. I believe that part of the reason for this was that the
SM, hence the PLC did not have a finger on what requirements the boys
needed. This leads me to my request. Does anyone have a rank
advancement tracking sheet, Scout to First Class or Scout to Eagle, in
Word format? Or does anyone know where I could get one off the net?
Trying to get a better handle on advancement before I officially
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
