Well, it appears that the current "option" is that the recipient must
contact National and ask for a certificate WITH the president's
signature. My Silver Beaver certificate, dated February 4, 2000,
doesn't have President Clinton's signature. My wife's SB certificate,
dated February 10, 1990, has President Bush's signature. Instead of the
president's signature, my certificate has the signature of the National
Commissioner so this leads me to believe the BSA has eliminated the
current president's signature from the various documents on which they
appeared in the past.

Well, I think this is a "big deal" as it sends a message that many will
interpret as the "BSA getting involved in politics." Personally, I
don't think highly of President Clinton but I do respect the office he
holds, and he IS the Honorary President of the BSA. His signature
should be on the various certificates as it has with other presidents.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the certificates when a
new president takes office in 2001.
