He's not talking "faceless Scouting", but rather what we do in business today:
online meetings and conferences. I don't see anything wrong with it, as
long as we combine it with physical meetings face-to-face.
Troop meetings will NEVER be "completely online". I can see eventually, a
Troop meeting occuring whereby part of the program will come from a website
(or the next generation of website) and interaction with merit badge
counsellors and national-level experts will be commonplace. But at the same
time, we as human beings crave person-to-person interaction, and that will
still happen during Troop meetings, Roundtables/Huddles/Exchanges, and outings.
Remember that three-quarters of Scouting is outing. We're not going to go
away from that, but if a Patrol Leaders' Council wants to meet online, let
them. It's THEIR Troop, afterall!
