This post is not directly related to Scouting, but I could sure use
your help :>)
I have a group of College Honors Students who are interested in taking
a two-week tour of civil war battlegrounds and other American history
related areas early this summer; while listening to lecture after
Most of these students are economically disadvantaged and have asked
if it would be possible to take this trip using the least expensive
methods. They cannot afford the $3,000 dollar Honors trip to Scotland
this year. At this time, I have no preset agenda of things they must
see or do.
Are there any of you out there who lease out your Scout huts,
campgrounds, etc... for guests other than Scouts to spend the night or
nights? I would think that we will probably travel from Texas across
the South, up through Georgia and then up through Virginia area,
etc... I also hope to take them over to Monticello and maybe Newport
News Shipyards. These are great, highly motivated students, but many
have never even been out of their own county.
Any info would be appreciated.
