As a Boy Scout I meet an OA advisor that had 3 rows of 3 knots. I remember
thinking "boy, that looks so cool!"
When I was asked to be the Cubmaster of my old pack (Why me? My only son
was only 2 at the time.) I decided I would stay active as an adult Scouter
until I had 3 rows of three.
In June I recieved my Silver Beaver, which was my 3rd knot on my 3rd row.
Joking, I told my fellow Scouters I could retire now......they talked to my
sweet wife.......she got me a new uniform so I get to start all over!!!!
I love wearing my knots because the boys in the troop (Scoutmaster), in the
pack (second "term" as Cubmaster), and in the district (you name the event,
I'm probably on the committee) know what they are and how I got them. I
always tell them they can be an adult Scouter and can get them too!
Scouting doesn't end with the Eagle or 18, that's when it's your turn to be
the helper to the next generation of boys. Who knows, one of these boys may
one day say, "As a Boy Scout I meet an adult Scouter that had 3 rows of 3
knots. I remember thinking 'boy, that looks so cool!' ........"
