scouts-l Mail Archive for February of 2000: What Sayeth the List; NEW DEVELOPMENT
Thu Feb 17 2000 - 21:20:22 CST
Greetings, Its the Scoutmaster with the small troop and the SPL that doesn't
like to camp again. The SPL has e-mailed me and proposed that he'll campout
on four of the next six campouts if I can call off the PLC from impeaching
him. He has also said that he'll resign if he doesn't make the four
campouts. I sort of like this idea, but will it set the troop back in my
attempt at making it a Boy-Led troop? Maybe I should campaign in the SPL's
behalf, and then let the PLC decide? Point out that their actions were
effective in bringing about the desired behavior change.
I sat down with each troop leader after the August elections and went through
the duties listed in the JLT Handbook for each position.
During the first counselling I pointed out that the first SPL duty in the JLT
Handbook was "Runs all troop meetings, events, activities, and the annual
program planning conference".
The SPL has attended the week long JLT course and the National Leadership
Seminar hosted by the OA.
Yours in Scouting,
