Tue Feb 15 2000 - 21:31:08 CST
This is an IMPORTANT notice from Mike Walton and in advance, I apologize
deeply for the massive crossposting.
As of 1422 hours (2:22pm CT), 15 Feburary 2000, I am formally
*disassociating and removing all of my interest* in Scouter Magazine, and
the organization formerly known as Scouters' Journal Magazine. I have had
several problems associated with my electronic mail account which was
graciously provided for free as compensation for my many stories, columns
and input into the Magazine; those problems can no longer be overcome with a
phone call and a "I'll take care of it" and it's time for me to take my tent
and post it elsewhere. Since the account was tied to my services, I felt it
was time for me to cut those services and move onward.
I still believe in my heart of hearts that a publication such as Scouter is
sorely needed by the Scouting community, both online and not; further, I do
believe that the management of Scouters' Journal will somehow work toward a
next issue and a next publication schedule. In the meantime, however, my
personal reputation as an online Scouter, as well as my ability to be as
responsive to others as possible has been seriously damaged, especially
since the first of this new century, by the actions and inactions of the
team at Scouters' Journal.
I will continue to make ANY posting that I write available to ANY
PUBLICATION who seeks permission from me to publish or share it; and I
welcome and will support other efforts in taking the baton and moving the
idea of a reflection, training support and coaching publication furthermore.
As of MIDNIGHT local time, I will NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE VIA EMAIL THROUGH
"firstname.lastname@example.org". My new email address will be the following:
I will continue to be available through America Online (email@example.com)
and through Hotmail (firstname.lastname@example.org). I still maintain an electronic
mail account through MinnNet, but I will be using that as a backup in case
for some reason this new account fails.
I thank all of you in advance for reading and understanding this posting,
and I ask you to please change your personal address books and distribution
lists to reflect the new address. I will be spending this evening
unsubscribing and resubscribing to all of the Scouting-related mailing lists
as well as moving all of my address books and distribution lists reflecting
the new email address.
