scouts-l Mail Archive for February of 2000: What Sayeth the List?
Mon Feb 14 2000 - 21:06:02 CST
Greetings, I'm writing to the group to check my bearings and to check whether
I'm being unduly harsh. I'm a Scoutmaster for a small troop with an SPL that
has recently decided he does not like to camp. The SPL ran unapposed in
August and hasn't been on a campout since. I have counseled him three times,
the Committee Chair has counseled him once as has the Advancement Chair. The
second time I counseled him I told him I would have difficulty signing off on
his Eagle Scout Leadership requirement since he hasn't been on the campouts
to represent the troop.
The PLC approached me two weeks ago and said they were not satisfied and
wanted to impeach the SPL. I am thinking I should let this happen, by having
a troop election to determine if we want to have a new election for SPL and
then progressing from there.
In his behalf the SPL has excellent attendance at scout meetings,
fundraisers, and service projects.
What are your thoughts?
