Many years ago we decided at my troop that we needed to have a parents
meeting around recharter time. We held 3 meetings at various times of the
evening on various days in order to insure that everyone should be able to
attend at least one meeting and then published via a letter that parents had
to attend one of these meetings before their son could be included on our
recharter. We had pretty good results though please understand that I am
merely reporting and not necessarily speaking in favor of this tactic.
Would we have went through with the threat of dropping a boy from the roster
if his parents did not attend? Not if I had anything to do with it.
