<I don't quite know how to articulate this. It seems that every time
<I post something to this list (it's been a few years) it concerns this
<topic - duty to God.
OK I hear you and so did our fine Attorney TedB,
Imagine for a moment a God not constrained by our human frailities
and able to reveal and work works across all cultures and all times.
A God able to deal with each people and person according to its and
their needs and their own particular growth paths. Imagine that God
working inside of Budha, Christ, Paul of Tarsus, Hiawatha, Krishna
St Augustine, St Francis of Assisi, Mother Teresa, many others, even
you, I, Ted, the Vietnameese, Chineese, Japaneees, Indonesian next
door giving more of acceptance and encouragement to the universe of
souls than hate. A God not defined by this practice or that practice
or following "this particular" human beings plan or creed. i.e a good
GOD offering freely universal warmth for all to enjoy.
Yes I agree man/oman or men/omen like you, me, Ted, and others still
have to make decisions on when a people are practicing a Bad God system
that serves to degrade relationships like the thuggee practices YET WE
must be careful to remember this is not MY GOD or MY Groups GOD it is
EVERYONE's God. God expects us not to be so narrow minded and to help
GOD cultivate EACH crop.
Read Paul's Letter to the Romans if you have a chance. Paul was a wild
and totally smart believer of God, Christ, and of people even of the
barbarians who many thought couldn't be God's people. OK you can also
read Jonah, where the ending of the story tickles me since it read right
against our MY God syndrome. Johah is kind of like each of us at some
time in our life.
The bottom line is each of us in scouting should learn to be reverent to
people who practice a Good God, or a Good Belief system that include you,
me, Ted and all of us and be vigilant on those that practice a "ONLY MY
YiS, IMHO, and may we each attempt to live the SO,SL,SS,SM
(AND BELIEVE ME THAT is TOUGH!!!
