This from a religious list.
There were these faculty members who met each day for lunch and to
discuss the latest directives from Administration. They often pondered
the secret meetings and the location of a secret room where University
administration conjured the rules and policies with which they harrassed
the faculty. They were awed by the intellect and effort evident in many
of the pronouncements from on high.
And then it came to pass that one of the group was promoted into
Administration, and they did not see him for many weeks.
At last, their old friend descended from on high to partake in lunch
with them. They were happy to see him, but more than anything, they
wanted to know, "Where is the secret room? When are the secret
meetings? What special intellect goes into creating such diabolical
"I hate to tell you this," their old friend replied. "There is no
secret room. There are no secret meetings. No special intellect is
employed. It's just incompetence!"
