My story to add to this thread. The local gas jockey was a young man
of perhaps 20-something years. When I came in to pay for my gas he
noticed the uniform and I could see the gears turning.
"Are you a Park Ranger or what ??"
"No, I am a Scout Leader"
( More gears turning and grinding )
"Wow, that sounds like it might be fun to do. How could I get into that
( Now my gears are turning ...has a young son at home ? ...remembering
through the haze his time as a Cub or Boy Scout just a few short years
ago ? ...or what ?? )
" Well, I would suggest you call the local BSA Council office. The number
is in the phone book." ( Don't have it memorized yet. )
(More grinding and crunching)
"Cool ! How much do you guys get paid ??"
> Its just a guy or gal, outfitted for service to others. Thats all.
