In some management training session or the next, this ploy for that was
offered: Chair does not put announcements on his agenda. Immediately
before introducing the main speaker, Chair mentions that time is
short so all the announcements are on paper in the back of the room,
please pick up your copy before you leave. He DOES NOT DRAW BREATH there
and launches into the speaker intro.
I've seen that work now for 4 or 5 different groups, all accustomed to
having their say. By the time anyone realized what was up, the Chair was
midway through the intro and no one wished to embarras themselves by
popping up with an interruption. (g)
