$59.04 in 1998 dollars based on the CPI alone -- if you had
$6.05 in 1930.
My Grandfather, a college graduate, was lucky to make .50 a
day hauling mail sacks at Penn Station in Pittsburgh during
the depression. My dad's first registration fee for BSA was
.50 - a day's pay.
"Scout uniform" and "good deal" are phrases that have
probably *never* been used in the same sentence :-) But
that's another thread....
