I don't know...my sons like winning trophies as much as the next kid....
But, I *think* they enjoy spending time with dad out in the garage doing
all that cool stuff too:
-picking out and deciding on the design
-choosing the color and decals they want
-cutting it out (with a coping saw and a little help)
-sanding and applying putty/filler
-priming (well, dad does that with spray primer)
-painting (with a brush and acrylic paint)
-more sanding and painting
My youngest just had his derby last week. He beams when he talks about
"his car", and he didn't get any trophies (which is kinda unusual around
our house). He had more fun watching all of the races with his friends...

missing a couple of front teeth in Den 9<vbg>.
