This finally put me over the top! (my apologies to the author; much that has
been written here in regard to this question has slowly raised my scouters
hackles, until this one parenthetical phrase broke me)

An over-riding character flaw in a 10 - 11 year old? Come on now! We are
here to BUILD character, not judge it flawed at such an early age. I would
bend over backwards to keep a "flawed" boy in Scouting. The perfect boys
will go far with little help from us, the less than perfect ones are where
scouting pays off. If you believe in the program and what it can do for ALL
boys then accept them, respect them, and show them the path, not the door.
