Darryl and all: Darry; described a sticky situation which I think I can
address. WE have had a couple similar problems. What may be going on is
a couple things:
1) Pushy parent who wants their son to cross NOW and has particular
expectations for their son
2) Pushy parent who doesn't like the Den Leader or doesn't like the way
the DL is handling the Transition. Timing too long, wants to cross now -
some other reason.
3) WDL with high/inflexible/unreasonable expectations for the active
4)Pack may have strict guidelines on active participation and WDL is
following the rules closely.
5)Personality conflict with WDL and these parents.
Talk to a member of the pack committee to get a third, perhaps neutral
opinion on your situation. Proceed diplomatically and cautiously.
Something is going on here.
My opinion - I had a boy who had poor attendance the fall before we
crossed. He had several illnesses, but I wondered about parental
committment. They called so I considered him excused. Frankly, I would
not hold a boy up on the active participation piece, but there are a
couple DL's in my Pack who are sticklers about it and have caused some
parents in their den some grief. Pack committee involvement is needed.
